BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG CLUB OF IRELAND RESCUE AND RE-HOMING SERVICE
The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ireland has run a rescue and re-homing programme for many years and
this service is available to members and non-members alike.
We have re-homed 5 dogs since January 2016 to date, making this one of our busiest and, naturally,
most expensive years in recent history. On average it costs approximately €500 to re-home a dog –
costs are attributed to the following: -
- Veterinary fees for a health check, neutering, microchipping, vaccinations and other medical issues that may be present
- Grooming
- Transport and kennelling costs
and is extremely grateful for this. Without the generosity of so many people we would not be able to
provide this extremely valuable and necessary service.
Anyone wishing to be placed on our waiting list to adopt a dog is asked to contact Hilary O’Keeffe or
Annemarie O’Neill at the contact details below. We will send a questionnaire for completion and return
and should a dog become available that we think would be suitable, we will then arrange a home
inspection visit. Please bear in mind that you could be waiting quite a while for a dog as some have very
specific needs so we place them with new families based on your suitability rather than how long you have
been on our data base.
If anyone is in the unfortunate position whereby they can no longer look after their Bernese – for
whatever reason – please contact us and we will do our utmost to provide a safe and loving new home for
your dog.
